Documenting the Gilded Age: New York City Exhibitions at the Turn of the 20th Century: Phase II

Collectors

Collectors acquire art of the past or provide financial and social support for living artists. The highlights in this section examine both of these types of collectors. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Phelps Taft amassed a large art collection that included old master paintings. Rita de Acosta Lydig promoted Ignacio Zuloaga, who was a Spanish painter and personal friend. Exhibitions related to these collectors are included in the collection.
